Important information about the closure of Brentwood High Street to traffic on Saturday 22 November for Lighting Up Brentwood 2025.

Brentwood Connected Business Improvement District (BID) and Brentwood Borough Council are pleased to announce that Lighting Up Brentwood will take place in Brentwood High Street on Saturday 22 November 2025 from 12pm until 6pm. The High Street will be closed to vehicles from 8am until 8pm.

The diversion routes for traffic will be (a) Weald Road/William Hunter Way/Ongar Road, or (b) Kings Road/Queens Road/Ingrave Road. The High Street will be closed from Wilson’s corner to the Kings Road Junction, with Hart Street changing to two-way traffic for the duration.

Please could all residents ensure that parked cars, including those in disabled bays, on the High Street are removed prior to 8am on Saturday 22 November. The road will reopen at 8pm. If your business normally has deliveries on Saturday, you may need to make alternative arrangements as the High Street will be closed.

Hart Street will be open for 2-way traffic for the duration of the event, as there is no access onto Crown Street. Please be aware that Crown Street is partly pedestrianised. Taxi Ranks will need to be aware that the High Street is closed during this time and will need to make their customers aware and liaise with the Council’s Licensing department around the relocation of some taxi ranks.

The programme of activities for the event will begin at 11.45am with a parade and entertainment throughout the day culminating with the Mayor switching on the festive lights at 5pm, leaving the last hour for crowds to sample local shops, food and drink before closing the event at 6pm.

There will be a main entertainment stage, along with a second stage area by the Chapel ruins and further musical performances at the West End. There will be variety of street entertainers wandering amongst the crowds, and other entertainment for younger children. In addition, there will be a variety of market type stalls in the High Street, offering local produce and gifts for Christmas.

This fantastic day of celebrations attracts thousands of visitors to Brentwood’s town centre. Brentwood Connected would like businesses to get involved as much as possible. Let us know how your business plans to be part of this exciting day.
